Picked up a Humax DRT400 at an electronic clearance place and was wondering if my problem was because the unit was unsubbed or if there is a problem with the unit. I tried to record via the front panel from my camcorder. I told it to record for 2 minutes, but after that time elapsed it wouldn't let me out of the recording mode. I didn't even recorded anything either. I had to unplug power to get out of the recording mode. I was either going to give the unit to a friend or sell on ebay, I just don't want to do either if the unit is damaged. I have never used a DVD unit before so wasn't sure what the deal was.
Also is there anyway to test the burner without it being subbed? there are no recordings on the unit since the first thing I did was a clear and delete all. Would I be able to put it into demo mode, record something and test the burner that way?
Other than the recording issue it works fine. DVD plays back, it updated to the newest system 8.xx and live tv works fine. So I think it's a subscription thing, just wanted to make sure.
