Upgrading series 2 vs 3

I upgraded my HD series 3 with the esata Seagate 750 gig and had no problems whatsoever. Is upgrading the series 2 (in my case a Sony 3000) just as easy? Can I buy a 300 or 500 gig and just plug it in. What I am trying to avoid is opening the case. Your opinion?

In order to upgrade the HD in an S2 you must open the case. You can purchase pre-formatted drives from the TCF Store, WeaKnees, DVRUpgrade, eBay, and a slew of other places that will allow you to simply plug-n-play.
