Hi - just got a reconditioned R15-500 Tivo Revicer from DirecTv.

I see this reciver has 2 satellite input ports. I guess one is for watching TV and the other is to record while watching another station.

My question - what is the easiest way to install the 2nd line from the LNB? Can I split it in the house and add a multiswitch? I am really new to this so any help is appriciated. My roof access where the dish is - is horrible. Id really like to find a way around installing another coax line.

Thanks,
Ryan

There is no way around installing another coax.

Also, the R15 is not a TiVo. You'll find a lot more discussion and help on www.dbstalk.com

Each line to the R15 (which isn't a TiVo BTW) must come from the dish or from a multiswitch. Splitting will not work in this situation. There is no way around not installing a second line, unless your dish supports the SWM option which the R15 can use.

The better forum for R15 info is here.

This sticky thread will also help you understand how things work.

The R15 has Two inputs. Sat 1 must be used, Sat 2 is optional.

Using both inputs, you can Record 2 Channels, while watching a 3rd pre recorded call.

Using just the 1 input, you can record 1 channel, while watching a 2nd pre recorded show.

The best use is to have the 2 Feeds attached.

The best way is to get a Multiswitch. Have all the feeds from the Dish go to the switch, then run the feeds from the Multiswitch to the unit.

1 major point. Directv is currently testing a New SWM system, where you can split a single feed into Two. But the major point is: The R15 is NOT compatible with SWM. Only the H20, HR20, D11 and D12 are.
