After reading the the long litany of problems people are having. I'd like to say that since i went back to 3.1.5f i have had no lockups, no reboots, no stuttering, no missed recordings, and no invalid access card messages.
4 months and counting.

Hey I never left, and all is fine here too! Zero, zip, nada in terms of problems.

Same here. Well, I did have one minor problem a few days ago. A couple of recordings continued having the red icon after they finished recording and couldn't be deleted. I could play them OK, and new programs continued to be recorded. A power cycle cleared the problem. Well, there is one other problem, the frequent rain fades. I'm getting tired of sitting down to watch a show, only to discover it was recorded during a thunderstorm and is thus unwatchable. I lost two episodes of planet earth to rain fade. I predict that by this time next year, I'll be using a S3 on cable instead of DirecTV.
273 days without a daily call! Still solid on 3.1.5f.

I'll throw my two in with these. No problems whatsoever.

In February this year I plugged in my phone line on one of my HR10-250s and let it upgrade from 3.1.5f to 6.3d. In May after no problems on 6.3d, I plugged in the phone line for the other one. I have never had any problems with 6.3d. No re-boots, no missed or short recordings and no lock ups.
I believe 6.3d is a solid release of the code and the problems that are being reported are a result of the database conversion that was done from 3.1 to 6.3a or b. The problem with short or missed recordings when the disk fills up appears to be a problem, however since both of my units have 500 G or more and I don't turn on suggestions, I don't see that problem. Both of my units upgraded directly from 3.1.5f to 6.3d.

Well, sure, but you've probably spent that whole 4 months waiting for your season passes to re-prioritize.

+1 on 3.1.
It's a little slower in the guide, doesn't have the bells and whistles (folders, which is either a bell or a whistle--not sure, and probably the only one of note) but it is very solid and dependable, and that is what really counts, and is why I bought three of them in the first place. Unplugged forever.

Any of you 3.1.5f users find it *necessary* to do a clear and delete periodically?I'm on day 250+ and it seems a little slower(but I'd hate to ditch all my recorded programs).
Otherwise,it's been fine.My other machine is 6.3d and seems good, too. But I don't use it much.

Could always volunteer to clear and delete 'without' everything if neccesary.

"Clear and Delete Wishlist and ToDOs" has been sufficient for me. This allows you to keep your recordings, and requires you to re-enter SPs and WLs. The key symptom for me that this was due was that recordings were intermittently starting a minute late. Last time I did this was six months ago, and I've had no problems since.
Note: for prioritizing the SPs, I usually tune the channels to 0 and 1. This solves problems of having to wait a long time for this command.
