View Full Version : SAT-T60 Hard Drive Problem

Hey everyone!

I've got a SAT-T60 that was upgraded with a 120GB hard drive many years ago. Everything has been working great until recently.

Now it's getting the endless "Welcome. Starting Up..." screen.

I figured my hard drive went belly up, so I stuck it in a computer and booted with the MFS Tools CD to check.

The hard drive seems to have lost it's partition table, but otherwise seems okay. It spins up fine, it's recognized by the kernel, and doesn't make any funny noises.

Is there anything I can do or any tools I could use to verify the hard drive is good or bad?

If it's bad... anybody want a SAT-T60 without a hard drive? :-)

If it's good... what can I do to resurrect my TiVo?

Thanks,

Paul

You could try to re-image that drive to see if it will work again.
Get the latest InstantCake image.

There are disk manufacturer's tools to check the drive.
Try their website.

This is a good hard drive test tool http://www.grc.com/sr/spinrite.htm

Thanks for the tips!

Looks like heat has fried my drive.

SeaTools complained the drive had been "overtemp" and stopped testing after 99 errors.

Bummer.

I'd take it if you are thinking of ditching it. Especially the remote. :)
