Probably because of the MLB blackout rules and that CW11 (WPIX) had the rights.

I've had the same problem with Cardinals games. The Cards were on Fox Sports midwest in SD and on ch 95 in HD. The HD broadcast was the same broadcast that was on FSN in SD. Same announcers, same comercials, same everything except it was in SD. I know this because I went to the local sports bar to watch the game after watching the first few innings in SD at home and it was on ch 95 in HD. So this can't be a MLB blackout rule since it was the same ch.

I don't believe FS midwest is the same as ch 95 in this case. regardless if the announcers were the same, etc. Same cameras, but different networks.

I believe him. I live in Maine, where New England Sports Network (NESN) is the RSN. NESN carries almost every Red Sox game (except when ESPN or Fox has an exclusive), and they do it in both SD and HD. I have the MLB EI Superfan package, which gives me one or two games each night in HD. When Red Sox games on NESN HD are selected as one of the Superfan games, it's blacked out for me. Why? WHY?? I can get the SD feed, so why shouldn't I be able to get the HD version? It's insane.

Why is one channel blacked out sometimes?
Because, they don't always have the rights to the game.
I agree that it's stupid. :)
