samsung sir s4040r

hello,
new to forum, have questions on my third samsung sir s4040r -
all set with directv, new card and activated -
when i turn off power, and later turn on, I get my GE tv guide on the screen, and can't clear it without unplugging unit. after re-plugging in, once it powers up, the screen is as it should be - directv.
any suggestions?
not sure if this is right place - but could use some help.
other 2 units (same model), never did this.

Yeah, leave the D-TiVo plugged in and powered up. That's how they're supposed to run.

when I leave it plugged in - the next time I turn on the tv, I get the GE tv guide screen, and I can't find a way to clear it. I can see the directv channel on behind it, but can't clear it without unplugging the tivo, and then plugging back in - it then comes on after powering up.
suggestions? is there a setting I missed, my 2 others never did this.

Until you find a way to clear the TV Guide screen, leave both powered up. Turn down the volume when you're not watching it. Find the manual that came with the TV and see what is says about clearing the screen. If you don't have the manual, do a Google search for the TV model # to see what comes up.

Are you using the RF out of the 4040? Switch to direct RCA outputs instead.

thanks for the tips. as hot as it is on my patio - 112 - I think for right now, having it not running all the time is ok with me. haven't watched it since Sat afternoon.
