My HR10-250 crapped out after 6.3d upgrade and I'm wondering if I can replace drive with one from SD DTivo Receiver. I got a free one a few years ago as a special offer from DTV and it's just sitting in a box. My recently replaced HR20 has to be replaced and I'm wondering if I can revive my beloved Tivo.

Probably not. The replacement drive must be at least 250GB or larger, and your SD DirecTivo probably only has a 40 or 80GB drive.
Best bet is to buy a 250GB or larger drive (only ~$100 these days) and download the InstantCake utility from DVRUpgrade's web site. Then you can create your own replacement hard drive.
