Hello,

I know this is a TiVo based forum but I don't know where else to go for my questions.

I have D11 and D12 std receivers plus a R15 DVR and I would like to control all three using an IR blaster and universal remote. From what I've heard, all three need to have different remote addresses in order to operate independently. How do I change these?

Also, will an IR blaster work with these? I've read the std receivers have problems.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Here's a forum that should have your answers.

I had no end of trouble getting my D11's to work with the IR blasters. As it turned out it was a simple positioning problem and easily remedied with the "Popsicle Stick Solution". The IR blasters have to be extended way out in front of the sensor.

There are only two IR addresses available to those receivers. Upgrade one to a Hr20, its alternate remote address is different from the others.

If I can only choose between two, then would I be able to have the D11 on one remote address and the D12 on the other? Would this then allow me to control the two from a different room in the house using a remote extender?

Basically what I'm doing is using an RF modulator hooked into the exisiting cable system so that I can have access to my recievers and DVR from any TV in the house. I'm going off of previous knowledge so any how to or forum would be much appreciated.

Once one is set to av1/av2 code 00002, yes. There isn't address "0" like tivos where you would have to abandon it if you had more then one.

The D11 has major problems with the IR Blaster. The D12 works alot better.

With the Universal Remote, you can set it up to control the D11 and D12, but cannot control a Third Unit unless you have a good Remote like a Logitech Harmony.

The R15 may cause problems to. My Universal remote would not control it. After talking to the Manufacturer and Directv, I replaced the R15 with a Philips DSR and the Universal Remote worked just fine.

The Code for the R15 is 00001. This may help you. My universal would only accept 3 Digits not 5.

Why couldn't I control the third unit? In my scenario, is it possible to do something to make all three unique to the remote?

Also, I might have confused myslef on my previous post - I am most likely going to use remote extenders, not the smaller blasters, if possible. The single IR reciever or the three blasters do the same thing right? If not, which is the best route?

Thanks for everyone's help - I'm slowly but surely getting my system set up.

What universal remote are you looking at using?

To be honest I'm a bit lost in that dept as well. The One for All URC9910 might be a possibility?

The stock 9910 doesn't have preset codes for the D11/D12/R15 receivers. You can have codes loaded over the phone, SAT code 1377 matches white remote code 00001, and SAT 1378= 00002 address.
