I was very excited to see that Copa American was going to be shown in the US in English on Gol TV. I had since discovered that DirecTV's listing are for the Canadian feed. Does anyone have any information on this? Have they alway had the wrong listings? Do I have to manually enter all 26 games?

I found this:

Copa America 2007

May 31, 2007

Univision Communications holds U.S. and Canadian Spanish-language video rights to Copa America 2007. All 26 matches will air LIVE on either Univision or TeleFutura in the U.S., and on either TLN on TLN en Espanol in Canada.

GolTV, Inc. holds U.S. and Canadian English-language video rights to Copa America 2007. All 26 matches will air LIVE on GolTV in the U.S. and GolTV Canada in Canada.

It seems that Gol TV's Guide data is only accurate for the current day (sometimes). I was hoping someone would know why the guide data for anything ahead of the current day is wrong. This channel has been on D* for over two years, has the guide data always been wrong?

I guess I will check my TiVo in the morning to see if the guide data is right and if not manually record the games. I feel like I am back in the twentieth century.

Hi Gitchee,

My experience has been that the Gol TV guide data updates on Friday, usually by evening, for the whole following week. For example as I write, on a Sunday, there are Copa America games in the guide through Friday, but after that the competition mysteriously disappears, replaced by a generic schedule of Futbol Espaņol/Italiano etc.

Maybe the best thing for events like the Copa (especially if you are not always home on Friday :) ), is to use an ARWL? (Of course, now that the first coupla Copa games are in the guide an SP will work fine.)

My impression is that the Gol TV data, once it does at last appear, is pretty accurate for the coming week, but YMMV -- and with sports you always must actively monitor the todo list anyhow.

Maybe Gol's odd scheduling behavior is partly excusable, since some of their broadcast sources probably pick weekend games at the last minute; but a partial update to list the matches of a major tournament in advance doesn't seem like too much to ask?...

Guide data still looks bad to me! This is a bit annoying...
