I have a Hughes SD-DRV80 that works great but is just about full with programs I want to keep.
I have a DVD Recorder and I would like to know how to hook them up and burn the programs to DVD so I can free up space.
Also I would like to know about updating the Tivo/DTV with some of the "hacks".
Is hacking it legal? What type of functionality benefits would I get?
I would like to upgrade to a bigger hardrive in the future as well.
Thanks...

Hook up the DVD recorder like you would a VCR, then use the Save to Tape function. As for hacking check out the Zipper thread in the Underground.

Hacking - search for "Zipper" in this forum and the Underground forum. It will cover everything you need.

Correct. Windows O/S PC's can't see a Unix drive.

OK, so it will only see it if it is directly connected to my PC in a normal way, like NOT a NetDisk, or a USB Disk, and when booting from the ISO designed to see it, then I guess.
So, upgrading via a LapTop is damn near impossible, huh?

It's pretty easy to go back one screen, choose the drop down called "Search This Forum" and type DVD recorder.
