At least I assume it was lightening that fried it and a DVD player and my DSL modem. They worked fine, then we had a storm and they all stopped working (thankfully, lots of equipment made it through just fine). Now the HDVR2 won't even power up. You plug it in and nothing happens. What could be wrong with it? Power supply? Mobo fried? Something else? I really don't need it to work, but if I could fix it cheaply, I may be interested. Any ideas?

Before you can determine if the mobo is fried you have to get power to it. Replace the PS and then see what happens. This could lead you to more expense than you want to have.

BTW, what's "lightening" as it is used in this context?

And lightening is a typo for lightning :)
