A head-up to Houston cable viewers. Today is the day Time Warner Houston officially becomes Comcast. Comcast will be rolling out new HD channels. Playing with my S3 today, I found out they are already live, just not in the guide. I assume at some point we will get the message "You have a lineup change", and the guide will reflect it. Until then, one can manually tune or record these new HD channels.
Also one small warning--Comcast is changing a couple of channel assignments. And they have already taken effect. But since the guide is not updated, you will be recording the wrong show.
Here is what I have found so far:
Totally New:
293 ESPN2 HD
296 MHD
294 Versus/Golf HD
415 Starz HD (YES!!!! )
419 Cinemax HD (YES2!!!! )
415 & 419 mimic 410/420, so you can use the guides for those channels for show info
UnivHD moved from 293 to 297
The timing is incredible. I had noticed "The DaVinci Code" was coming out on Starz this week. But I try to wait for movies in HD, so I was gonna hafta wait until HBO/SHO showed it (those were the only first-run HD movie channels Time Warner offered). But since Starz-HD works, I found it playing tonight, and have set a manual recording for it. :)
