On the S3, is the component video port active while the HDMI port is in use?
Thanks,
Mike

if (Content Protected & HDMI Physically Connected & HDCP Not Enabled)
{
Disable all analog output (including component)
}
This impacts some users who connect a TV to the HDMI then want to run the component to another room. If you are viewing copy protected content then some HDMI TVs require that you actually power on the TV that is connected to the HDMI port in order for the component to work.

I got an S3 the other day. I'd initially hooked it up via component - later on, throwing HDMI into the mix.
I was able to swap inputs on my TV (had both component and HDMI going directly to the TV) and got pictures on both.

Likewise. I have both connected and use them depending on whether the station I'm watching has annoying CC/VBR garbage on the 1-1 digital output.

:confused:Based upon my research and personal observations, this is how the S3 operates.
For instance, if you have the HDMI connected to a Sony TV that is currently powered off then the component will issue an error saying that "the content cannot be viewed on this input, try another input" or something like that whenever the content is protected. Turning the HDMI TV on will clear the error. Diagnosing the issue and playing with the HDMI inputs, you can see the HDMI status change from enabled, disconnected and not-enabled.

Thanks! That's all I needed to know!
