View Full Version : How to handle exchange for new box?

I'm new to Tivo - just got a series 3 delivered from Amazon on Friday.

However it appears to have developed a dead 2nd tuner, so I'm going to send it back to Amazon for a replacement.

My question is: When the new box gets here how do I handle the 3 yrs prepaid service I paid for on the first box? Do I have to call up Tivo and get them to switch this service to apply to the replacement box? Is there some way to do it without calling?

Just call them and give them the serial numbers of the old and new boxes and they'll handle the exchange immediately. This will activate the service on your new box.

You can even do this yourself at Tivo.com.

If you did the RMA through TiVo instead of Amazon, they also would have done it for you, and you wouldn't have to be without a TiVo during the switch.

(Unfortunately I had to find this out the hard way tho)

I won't be without a tivo as Amazon sends the replacement and gives you 30 days to send back the broken one.
