I am having trouble following the directions for the use of commas in setting up a wishlist. According to the manual, 'you can enter commas by selecting the comma character on the alpha-numeric keypad" For the life of me, I can not locate the comma either on the remote or the wishlist apha/numeric set up screen. My unit is a non HD Hughes unit.

Thanks for the assist!

The comma is located after the "Z" character. At least it is on my Hughes DVR40.

Or under the "W". :) (Sony SAT T60)

Commas are only available in the Actor and Director wishlists to use between the last name and first name.

In the Title and Keyword wishlists, the spot occupied by the comma (in the Actor and Director wishlists) instead has the numeral zero. You don't need commas in keyword wishlists anyway since it searches for a match for all the words you enter.

I stand partially corrected. :)

It just points out that the OP should have been more specific with his question. :D

Commas can be a problem for keyword wishlists if you use quotes.

For example, say you wanted a wishlist for Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman (first show I could find with a comma in the title)
Then a title wishlist for "DR QUINN MEDICINE WOMAN" wouldn't work.

There are some special characters that get replaced by an extra space, but that doesn't work for commas, so an extra space between QUINN and MEDICINE also wouldn't match.

Because of the comma, the only way I've found to match a wishlist like this is to split it into two separate quoted strings (so the comma would be outside either quoted string)
"DR QUINN" "MEDICINE WOMAN" would work, because the comma isn't inside the quotes.

Thanks very much. Your solution to the problem is right on the mark! The program I was trying to set up for wishlist was The Taking of Pelham 1,2,3. By setting it up" the taking " "of pelham" the wishlist found the upcoming broadcast. Again, thanks.

Why wouldn't "the taking of pelham" work since the commas are at the end of the string?
