Any of you MMA fans watching TapouT on the Versus network?
Made by the same...well...producers maybe? directors? as American Chopper.
The characters of Mask, Skyscrape and Punkass seem kind of cheesy...but for some reason, I find the show fascinating.
I've seen "Diamond in the Rough" and "Hothead" (Damasio and Antonio) so far, the "Hothead" episode was better, IMO.

Yeah, the main characters are extremely cheesy. With that said, I was so excited to see the behind the scenes of MMA. We the fans finally got a chance to see where fighters perfect their crafts. It was awesome seeing where Chuck Liddel worked out and lived. It was also great seeing Greg Jackson and Pat Miletich's MMA camps.

I missed the first episdoe but I enjoyed the last two. I wasn't so sure about the three Tapout guys right off the bat but Punkass and Mask are both growing on me. I'm not sure what Skyskrape is there for. I heard punkass get interviewed on Tagg radio and he seems like a very smart down to earth kinda guy. I'm glad we're getting more programming like this. It's good to see how much these guys go through.

Punkass seems to have decent business sense...Mask seems like a good guy with an obnoxious laugh.
I'm not sure what Skyskrape really does either, other than going around being really tall.
Got the Tivo set up to grab episode #2.

Episode 2 is very good since it gives a lot of insight into The Pit (Liddell's camp). Apparently episode 1 provided all the background on the Tapout guys and that's the one I missed. Are these guys the founders, spokesman, major shareholders, etc? I'll catch it tomorrow night (wednesday) since they are runnning all three episodes back to back.
For anyone that cares to checkout the interview with Punkass, you can catch in the Tagg radio archives from 6 June. www.taggradio.com

Mask is the founder, from what I gathered from the first episode. Apparently he's also the photographer for the catalog, which seemed like a nice gig.
Skyskrape is his buddy.
Punkass was brought in for his business sense, I think.

I liked the behind the scenes Chuck Liddell stuff, but the idiot cartoon-type Tapout characters spoiled the rest of it for me. And the week after I lost interest.
I'll stick with UFC and Pride.

TapouT makes clothing and gear for MMA fighters, they're not a MMA organization. Plus they sponsor fighters, which is what this show is about.
TapouT is to UFC/WEC, etc as Under Armour is to the NFL.

I sort of passively watch this when I'm waiting for WEC Wreckcage. There's a lot of MMA stuff on now, with the UFC on Spike, Tapout and the WEC on VS. and the IFL on UPN or whatever the new UPN/WB station is now.

Yeah, I know that. Sorry - I went off on a tangent. I've not been too impressed with the quality of the fights and fighters on the WEC shows.

WEC is kind of like the minor leagues of the UFC world.
If you don't like those, you should check out the bodogFight stuff. Those just seem really, really amateur to me. The old blood stains all over their mats don't help that feeling.
fmowry is right, MMA is all over the place all of a sudden. Hopefully it doesn't get overexposed. I haven't watched any of the IFL stuff...there's only so much of something I can watch.

I hope so too. I like the fact that the UFC is getting some competition so they can pay their fighters right but I don't want the sport to get too watered down. I trust the business sense of Dana White not to turn MMA into boxing.
I've watched a bit of the IFL but I don't make a point of not missing it like I do with UFC events. This weekend has a pretty good MMA lineup with the TUF Finale and also there is a Strikeforce event on Friday. Kimbo SLice and Ray Mercer are fighting this weekend too but I'm not sure when/where that is. PPV somewhere.

The UFC isn't really competition for the UFC since they now own it! Even before the UFC bought it the WEC was sort of a farm team or minor league for the UFC, they have always used the same rules, similar cage, etc.
I used to watch WEC events all the time when they were on HDNET and have seen many of their top fighters make it to the UFC.
Also, the WEC seems to be currently featuring the lighter classes 135lbs and 145lbs which the UFC doesn't currently support. Since those fighters don't have the opportunity to 'move-up' to the UFC we may see some real world class fights at that weightclass in the WEC. I've seen a couple Urijah Faber fights and he is awesome!
Those little guys often produce much more exciting fights than the big guys. Non-stop movement!
