We bought a *cheap 14" SD tube-television for the kitchen recently. It has an ATSC tuner. Is there any way to get a digtal/HD signal output to RF from the HR10, so that the 14" will recieve the same picture as the main room?
Current setup:
HDMI out to 52" TV in living room
Composite out to RF Modulator. Coax run to adjacent kitchen, connecting 14" TV.
Two problems with this setup:
1.) I have to change output to 480i anytime somebody is watching the kitchen TV, leaving the picture on my 52" HD set severely lacking
2.) Everybody has to learn to change the output back and forth to make the setup work (just not a very sustainable process)
Anybody have any tips or alternate setups (without having to buy a HD set for the kitchen)?
Thanks, Scott

Hope someone has an idea, I can't think of any way you can do it on the HR10. The new recievers will work though.

Doesn't the HR10-250 have an RF output on either NTSC channel 3 or 4 that you could feed via coax to your new set? Surely your new set isn't ATSC digital only.

Actually the HR10 has a composite out, not an RF out; but you can get an adapter at Radio Shack for a few bucks that will convert the composite to channel 3 or 4 via coax. Once you hit the resolution switch for anything other than 480i, the feed is gone, because the HR10 can't send more than the one signal in 480p, 720p or 1080i. So keep your remote handy.
The RS adapter works well for me, despite the switching problem. I will have one for sale cheap in two weeks when my HR20s are installed.

Thanks for the replies.

That's essentially they way I have it hooked up right now. I just hate having to switch back and forth, and teaching the wife anything "new" always pushes the limit. At least the HR10 makes switching resolutions fairly easy. That's what I meant by sustainable. If I left it up to her, we'd be watching 480i all the time - and that's just not accepatable (especially during football season).
Can the HR20 output different resolutions simultaneously?

Yes, all outputs on the HR20 are active at the same time. Works on several levels for me.

Amazingly, you are exactly correct. If you want to send a signal to one of those old-fashioned, RF input only TV sets from an HR10-250 you are SOL.
Goes to show I've never tried but just assumed the HR10-250 supported older technology. Silly me. ;)

I could see the HR10 supporting an RF output if it had an NTSC analog tuner.

What's the big deal about buying a $10 RF modulator?
Or maybe buy a TV made in the last 20 years?
