Is it me, or is the PQ on TNT worse than when FOX was broadcasting the races?

yes it was terrible yesterday. I noticed artifcacts all over the place. DTV really had the compression cranked up, and you could really tell they reduced the number of key frames. It was really bad when they'd have a camera on the cars going by, and even after the cars passed, you could still see blotches of color on the track.

A very good example of HDLite from directv.

I read on a couple of other forums that some people also noticed this on their Time Warner Cable system and also some Dish Network Customers also complained so I dont think it was just Directv on this one but possibly the feed that TNT was sending the providers. There were also some customers on a different cable system that reported that they had not picture quality issues. So this also leads me to believe that it was what TNT was feeding the different providers.

The PQ on TNT HD (Dish Network) for yesterday's race was horrible. Actually I found it unwatchable. I watched to SD feed of the race instead.

Well, I am glad it wasn't just me.

To be perfectly honest with you guys, when you're pushing 50 and need glasses, sometimes you start to question if it is your own eyesight which is causing you to question the PQ.

Congratulations Carl, you earned the win...and thank goodness his pit crew guy can now shave his beard!

Almost every issue you'll see with TNT-HD is because of TNT. I guess you've not noticed their world famous "stretcher vision"... SD (4:3) is variablly stretched to be HD (16:9). I thought I was having a stroke watching D&D yesterday; it looks fine as long as the camera never pans. (It looks just as bad on cable and dish.)

If I was NASCAR I'd demand a refund for the lousy presentation. TNT HD stinks.

They have a great big knob on the wall at the DIRECTV headquarters labled compression. They turn it back and forth all the time.
