I've searched and searched, but can't seem to find any mention of this, so I thought I'd ask here. If there's a thread on this already that I missed, please point me to it.
I recently (and finally) upgraded my receiver to one that can process digital formats (specifically the new Onkyo TX-SR805). I now have my HR10 connected to the AVR using an optical cable and setup the HR10 to record in DD and output in DD. For the most part, everything works great, but when I use FF/RW/Pause/replay/30 sec. skip it takes a second or so before the audio starts to play again. I notice that when I resume normal playback that DD disappears from the display on the AVR for a moment as if the audio format had switched.
The receiver is new, so I haven't totally ruled it out as a possible cause, but I don't have this issue with DD on my DVD player which is also connected via optical or with my PS3 connected via HDMI. Additionally, I tried hooking up the HR10 to the receiver via HDMI and the result is the same as optical. If I switch the HR10 to output DD to PCM, I don't have the same issue, but obviously that's not a solution since it's not the same audio quality (at least, it's only showing up as 2 channel PCM on my AVR via optical). It's as if the HR10 stops sending the audio signal to the AVR when outputting DD.
So, is this normal for DD?
Thanks!
P.S. I'm running 6.3d
