So, let's say we have a WishList to auto-record every live baseball game by my favorite team, (let's call them) the Monarchs.

How do I get it to choose the HD broadcast if one is available?

See, the Monarchs will sometimes be on the Saturday game on FOX, which I can get in HD. But, of course, I have FOX in HD and FOX off the dish, and the WishList always chooses FOX off the dish. The Monarchs will also sometimes be on ESPN's game of the week, or whatever, and, of course, I get ESPNHD and regular ESPN, too.

Maybe I just thought of my own solution:
Create a second Wish-List that specifies HDTV as a criteria, and give that one a higher priority over the regular Wish-List. That way, it will record the HD one if available, and it will record the non-HD one if there is no HD one...

Does that sound like it would work? The Monarchs don't play enough games in my area for me to test this out.

You shouldn't have to wait for a recording to test it out.

Try setting it up the way you suggested, and look in your "ToDo List". It will show the date, time, and channel that will be recorded.

I guess what I meant to say is the Monarchs don't play a game in the next two weeks that will be shown on my system.

Wishlists are not channel specific. So the unit will record from any channel that matches the wishlist criteria. Getting specific with the criteria is a good way to start. You can also remove some unwanted channels from your Channels You Receive list to limit how many are used.

Can't you set up 2 wishlists? Make 1 of them HDTV and put it above the non HDTV in the season pass manager.

That's exactly how I got the HR10 to record the CBS widescreen CSI's in HD, but the 4:3 CSI's in SD, so I could use my plasma's anamorphic stretch on them. Worked like a charm. Saved disk space too, by not recording the 4:3's in HD. /s

If Monarchs = Royals (there used to be a Negro League team in Kansas City called the Monarchs; Satchel Paige played for them), they will NEVER brighten your screen in the Bay Area unless they are playing the A's.

Fox? Bwaa-ha-ha-ha...

If you don't want the wish list to record any games in SD, go into your Channel List and un-check the SD channels.

I don't guarantee it will work this way with the wish list, but it does work for me with Suggestions.

My cable provider lists all the HD channels with higher numbers than the SD ones. Before I did this, the S3 was always recording the Suggestions from the SD channels.

Sorry, I forgot you were talking about the HR10, not the S3, but the same method will work on the HR10.

I receive my local channels OTA, and I have removed the SD ones for exactly the same reason.

How do I get it to choose the HD broadcast if one is available?

Make 2 wishlists - one with a subcategory of "HDTV", and one without. Place the HD wishlist higher in the list than the SD one. Move the SD one to the bottom of the list to prevent conflicts with other wishlists.

 OK but how about this:

I wishlisted "Jesse Stone" (the Tom Selleck police chief character) and it auto recorded on Channel 380, a national CBS Feed which I do not receive, instead of my local OTA feed which has totally awesome PQ.

Should I have put "4-1" in the wishlist because I knew that it was going to be on my local CBS station?

What if I wishlist something and don't know what channel it is going to be on?
