I need to replace the cheapo scarts I have for my current LCD and tivo set-up and will sometime soon be getting a 55" RPTV so I need to invest wisely.
Although I am likely to get Sky HD i want to keep the 2 tivo's I have.
I am looking at shelling out for some decent quality scarts like these:

can anyone suggest a any better alternative, for example would one of these be just as good for less than half the price?

or maybe scart to component would produce a better image?

if scart to component is better would this be just as effective?

thanks

CPC do lots of screened, OFC, gold contact SCART cables. I've tried these and the seem ok:

You'll need to search yourself, and their website is awful, sorry ;)

I don't think that putting any sort of Component converter in the chain will do anything but degrade the signal. You are effectively converting a signal that started off as component, back to component from RGB! (of course if your equipment has component out and your TV has component in, just connect them directly).

Keep the signal path as short and "passive" as possible for the best results.

I use QED squarts in my Tivo / traditional crt TV system. Picture is excellent but they gave most improvement to sound quality. My Loewe Tv has excellent speakers but if you are into a proper AV setup then i am sure it would be good too.
The cables are very thick and heavy which means they weigh more than the set top box they are attached to!! This can give problems with them pulling out of the sockets and cable routes so care has to be taken when moving stuff.
The connectors are works of art but the bulk can cause problems with the audio jacks on the Tivo.
