Hi guys,

After a number of years service my Thomson DTI2300 is starting to play up. Within 24 hours the picture freezes, which means any subsequent TiVo recordings are worthless, until I cycle the power!

To date I've also suffered from the problem that if TiVo is recording, I am then unable to watch anyother Freeview channel at the same time (just happened during F1 Qualifying on ITV4!).

Now I know you can get Twin-Tuner Freeview boxes, but I guess these are PVRs. So can anyone recommend a Freeview box, that would allow TiVo to record on one channel which I watch another?

Regards
Chris

PS On these Twin-Tuner boxes, is it actually possible to feed one channel on one SCART (ie to TiVo) and another on SCART (ie to the TV) at the same time?

Your cheapest and easiest option would probably just be to get two cheap Freeview boxes. Then devote one to your TiVo and use the other for Live TV :)

I am glad you raised that, as I had considered.

Given the aerial would go into the 1st box, then the 2nd, then a DVD recorder, then TiVo and then the TV; chaining five would not cause a problem with the signal?

Depends how strong your signal is :)

You don't need the TiVo in the chain unless you also record from the Analogue tuner... and come to think of it, if you are using a 2nd freeview box for Live TV viewing, you don't need the TV there either :)

I would just do: Aerial -> Freeview1(Tivo) -> DVDR -> Freeview2(Live TV)

Careful if you get two boxes of the same brand...

You may have a battle with IR remote control.
