Just wondering what others think of this deal?

Basically, Big Brother which returns on July 5th (Counting down the days!) will now have I believe a 3 hour block of live feed from the house shown on Showtime nightly. The idea is that well basically, all the crazy sh*t goes down between the 9pm-12am hours and now you can see it live and un edited!

I don't think its enough to make me join Showtime but I don't think this will hurt ratings. It will introduce more people to Big Brother and hey, if some voyers want an extra showing good for them. I just wonder if they will black out the screen for the same things they do on the live feed.

I love Big Brother and I have Showtime, so I think its pretty cool.

Why not go all the way and just devote one of the channels to it 24/7. Showtime 6 can't get that great of ratings anyway.

I think I will subscribe to Showtime to check this out. I saw a $50 rebate for new subscribers when you send in your first 2 months bills. So, I can spend $26 total for 2 months and get $50 back.

I already have Showtime, I'll be watching. 9-12 is indeed when the most interesting stuff happens and up late programs in other countries have had pretty good results.

Watching on Real Player I agree on that time frame, the houseguests usually sleep in late into the morning...

Do you have a link for this? I would definitely sign up for this deal!

Looks like the $50 expired in March. Here's one for $25:

I will keep looking and post of I find something better.

Great idea, finally do something other countries have always had, we are always the last and dumbest to show the obvious parts people want to see. I hope it is un-edited. I do wonder with only one feed, how to deal with different groups of people who may be talking strategy in different rooms, as most do when they have alliances. Will it just be fixed in one place and ignore everyone, or follow just one alliance around and not another? If it is live there is a real problem with multiple conversations. Of course we could compromise and just keep it set on the shower at all times, that would be nice.

I already have showtime, so I'll be watching. I just hope it will be available on demand because I'm not going to be staying up that lates every night...not again. Not this season. Nope, not me. I will not get addicted to live feeds...I will not get addicted to live feeds...

I already have Showtime so I'll definitely be watching. The DVR hooked up to the cable box is rarely used so I'll just record for hours on end and see what I get.

Awesome!

Direct TV subscribers can often get special deals on Showtime just by calling customer service. Seems to me the last time I called them I got Showtime for 6 months for $2/month or something like that.

Neat idea, something I always thought would be nice to have. But too bad it's on a premium station and not on regular TV. I skipped the live feeds last year but this year I might opt for them again. And I just hooked up my new HDTV to my computer so I should be able to push all the feeds to the TV to watch.

I am stoked.

However, I temper that with the realization that I am not a live feed watcher, and really need the editing.

Unless they plan to make these prime activity times, watching them sit around waiting for something to happen might be boring. I know the first season of BB when I watched the live feeds I found no value in it, because you would have to watch 5 hours to see 15 minutes of something worthwhile.

But that being said, I will be watching, at least initially. Might use it as good background fodder as I work.

This is one time I am thankful for living on the west coast. No way I could stay up from 12 to 3am to watch, but from 9-12, it will make a great background program.

I am wondering what they will do if something really interesting (like strategy discussions or a fight) is going on near midnight. Are they going to cut away or stay with it until it ends? Also, will the Pacific version be live too, or tape delayed? I have a feeling it will be tape delayed, although it would be awesome if it was live, giving us 6 hours, from 9p to 3am Pacific.

I think about 8:30 is when they should open the bar every night so by 9 they are nice and tipsy.

I will be adding showtime anyhow since Weeds will be back around then.

Sounds to me it'll start to air immediately following the taped show in whatever timezone.

They'll tease the end of the taped show with "see more right now on Showtime..."

The only unanswered question is whether PST will see midnight-3am EST live or taped-delayed 9pm-midnight PST?

I suspect it'll be tape delayed so all timezones get the same material and so the PST viewers don't have a 3 hour "gap" in real-time. That could be jarring.

From what I read, the 3 hours will be live, so on the east coast it will be at midnight to 3AM, but on the west coat it will be shown at 9PM to midnight. Of course I am guessing that is on the east coast feed of showtime. I'm not sure what they'll do on Sho West or whatever they call it. I don't have Sho, and I don't think this will be enough for me to subscribe, but I do wonder if there's any free previews coming up on D*

I won't watch it on Showtime or the live feeds, as I think the best part of Big Brother is Julie doing the lead in's to each segment. :D

But First...

We need to find out if Showtime plans on airing the content no matter what. Because ratings on that will drop FAST if the majority of that three hour block is Front of the House shots because the house guests start talking strategy. Plus, a lot of their comps are done in the evening, so if they plan on doing any of those from 9 to Midnight, I wanna see it. It's bad enough that you have to deal with front of the house shots when you pay for the live feeds but to actually put that on a premium channel would really suck.

Well as far as we have heard they are going to show everything only thing is they will cut out for the usual time if HG's start talking about copyrighted stuff or start singing.

So I have to stay up to midnight to watch this? Boo :( I want to watch it IMMEDIATELY following when I watch the CBS broadcast.

Guess I'll just record it and find out in the morning if I missed anything important.

Yes, the press release says the show will run from midnight to 3am ET on Showtime Too East, which would be 9-12 in the house. It will also run from midnight to 3am PT on Showtime Too West, which we are assuming is just a 3 hour tape delay of the earlier show.

Let's hope they pick some HG that DON'T sing this year.

Last year, I think it was Will, made up a song to sing when the urge hit. What was it that they would sing...I'd always get it stuck in my head....

What is this with people saying they don't want to stay up late, don't you have a Tivo? Daaaahh! Then someone asks about a PREVIEW? Of Big Brother? Now how would you do that one? No one is in the house yet. I suppose you could have a house tour or something like that of the facility, but you sure can't have a preview of a LIVE FEED.

What is the status at the moment regarding ordering and canceling premium stations?
You Have to have them for a full month before canceling now dont you?

I just want to get my ducks in a row for if the after dark show isnt very good.
Also, how long does BB run for, will 3 months do it? If so I will order as late as possible so that I dont go over the 3 months.
Its not that I am mean with money, we just decided that we didnt have the time to watch all the stuff on the premium channels so the were vetoed out of the viewing.......we are making an exception for Big Brother on the condition that we dont get hooked on any of the other series playing at the moment.

BB starts in July and ends in Sept. 3 months will do it.
