Hey all.

I'm back to concidering a DVD Tivo of some sort. As I recall there is a problem with MRV beteeen the DVD and non-DVD units, is this still the case?

The other big question is... Can you play DVDs out the RF out jack?

Thanks!

The only "problem" that I am aware of is that a DVD TiVo will NOT burn a show to DVD that is transferred from another TiVo unit.

ok - that won't be a problem, so long as it can play it.

You also can't burn a show that was recorded with the DVD unit, transfered to another Series 2 and then transfered *back* to the DVD unit (which originally recorded the program).

MRV works fine between my Toshiba SD-H400, 540 S2 and S2DT TiVos in either direction. The SD-H400 is a DVD player only, so I don't have burn issues. My RS-TX20 is not on TivO plus, so it can't MRV under TiVo basic.

Thanks for the info - looks like the only problem is burning MRV'd stuff from a non-DVD unit. That isn't a big deal for me.

Just to be clear you can't burn MRV'd from another DVD TiVo either.

Actually, you can't burn a DVD from any transferred content, only locally recorded programs.

And the RF out is just a passthrough, so you can't watch anything form that. You need to use the A/V inputs on your set.or an RF modulator.

That's what I really needed to know.

The SA Tivos do pass video on the RF out. If the DVD boxes won't then they aren't all that much help. Thanks.
