I wouldn't say it was "shocking" but it was entertaining as always. Aaron is so over the top it has to be an act, at least a little bit.

I would rate Rock and Josh as the favorites. Although the women did well tonight none of them strikes me as being all that talented.

I think one of the women (the one that 'stood out' during the signature dish in the first episode) could be considered a favorite, but the rest seem too interested in backstabbing the Waffle House short order cook to actually deserve to win....

Agreed somewhat about Aaron and it being an act. Regardless, I could see why the nominator for the week didn't nominate him.... keep around the weakest link and knock off your own competition.

It has been an interesting season already though. The casting has given us plenty of characters to keep things interesting throughout.

I HOPE Aaron is an act. If it's NOT an act, I'm very surprised the producers would let him go on with what seems to be some serious medical issues.

Some major backstabbing tonight. Loved it.

"I don't want to go home."

"Oh You won't."

"Pikachoo I choose you!!!"

:D :p

A little early in the game to pull the backstabbing ploy. You kinda need all the good cooks you can get to help your team from losing every week. I cannot believe they are letting the Asian cowboy just skate by. Either he's unable to continue on at all or he pulls his own weight. (insert fat joke here)

He's going to just keep dragging them down each week putting them all in danger.

Teamwork , IMHO, is what Ramsey is looking for at this point in the game... and since Aaron wasn't picked as one of the worst, I sure hope Ramsey takes notice that Rock isn't trying to help his team. Hopefully that will hurt him (Rock) in the future.

I'm very suprised Ramsey wasn't yelling more at Aaron, what a moron. He should have just 'fired' him. :p

Ramsey has in the past ignored the selections to pull someone else up to the block that he feels should be nominated.

I have no idea why he didn't drop josh & pull aaron up..

Didn't josh save the day in week 1 ?

I HOPE Aaron is an act.

This guy has got to be an actor. I can't believe anybody would be so stupid. The "fainting" spell and then the "Hi, I'm Aaron" crap was way over the top.

I sure hope Ramsey takes notice that Rock isn't trying to help his team. Hopefully that will hurt him (Rock) in the future.

Yeah, Rock was thinking selfishly and way too far down the line. He should be nominated next week simply for not nominating Aaron.

I think at this point, there are so many people that need to go, I don't think Ramsey felt the need to pull someone out, like Aaron. Aaron will go in all due time, he's not going to win anyway.

I was surprised that Rock picked Josh, it is too early to back stab. That will come back to bite Rock later.

I'm impressed with the girls this week, not as much bickering and they were able to pull it together and get not only their dinner service done, but pick up the guys slack! :)

Aaron needs to go ASAP. He's way to over-the-top (even for this show), and it's effecting my enjoyment of the show. Seriously, he's just distracting.

Aaron, please--go ride off into the sunset on your horse. (Just don't pass out on the horse.) :D

He's affecting my enjoyment of the show, too, which is why he needs to stay for awhile :D

(FWIW, to say "it's effecting my enjoyment of the show" is pretty much the opposite of what you were trying to say)

Aaron is suffering from Sanjaya complex. He'll stick around as long as he's entertaining, but has absolutely no chance at winning. I thought Eddie would go at least a little further than this, just to stick up for the little guy.

Ramsay is trying to build Aaron up, which is surprising seeing the way he's treated fat people in the past. I think it'll turn later, but he can't go on getting four hours extra rest and then doing little or nothing in the kitchen. After all, it's a show about chefs!

I almost cried myself while laughing at his high pitched insecurity.

I was commenting that Josh deserved the boot. He did well with the fish but just seemed so full of himself despite errors. Obviously Aaron is the weakest link, but if it were me, I'd have gone for Josh and the guy who lied a lot about his food (the one with attitude) because those seem like the two you can't trust at all.

Ahhh...here we are again in the land of where EVERYTHING must be staged...everything.
It'd also be great if Aaron was faking his way through all of this, and then suddenly became god's gift to chef's once the competition tightened up a little bit. But that's not gonna happen either.
The truth as I see it is that Aaron is a competent enough cook and entertaining enough character to make the show, but he's somebody that absolutely sucks when the actual pressure of being in "the big time" is applied. He should have been out after this latest episode, I was surprised that Gordo didn't veto one of Rock's choices and give "big boy" the axe. Ultimately, Aaron will drag the team down too much in the team competitions to worry about when it becomes an individual game.

That said...no comments yet about Bonnie's "booty shorts" and the follow-up requests to look for stuff? Far more "brilliant" than anything seen lately on The Sporanos. :p
The focus thus far has been on Melissa, Josh, Bonnie, Joanna (not sure if I got that name right) and Rock (less so on Rock, since he hasn't done much on the whole talking to the camera thing)...and Aaron, but Aaron's really just comic relief at this point. I gotta look at them (sans Aaron) as the finalists...although Bonnie seems to be dumb as a box of rocks.

Yeah.. That was an intersting little segment. It seems like she was just playing along with the boys and endulging them in a bit of eye candy. (and the viewers too)

Aaron may be competent as a cook at the retirement home and doing institutional style cooking, but he is clearly out of his element in a fine dining/a la carte cooking envrionment.

Not that I can recall. It's not too common these days, but there are still some places that do some "old school" tableside service like that.

I haven't, but a google search for "deboned tableside" turns up restaurant menu hits (lots of them) that pretty much exclusively have the words "Dover Sole" near that phrase.

I've never had a fish deboned, but on cruise ships, it's not uncommon for the Maitre'd to remove the meat from a lobster tail tableside.

I've never had a fish deboned at the table either, but my wife once got a free meal for having a *few* small bones in her salmon at "The Fish Market" in San Diego. Neither of us were surprised to see a few small bones in a salmon dish, but the waiter was shocked and apologetic -- is that stealing? :)

Aaron's sweat was nasty. If he told me what he was going to do that for me, I would tell him don't bother, I'll take care of it.

I don't know why Ramsey is going so easy on him while constantly picking on "the little guy" Eddie. It's very out of character for Ramsey to give someone so many breaks.

Don't you think it's more likely that it's the producers and not Gordon giving the breaks? If it was the latter, he'd have been gone before he started!

i normally FF thru the start of the show when they show the whole show first before the whole show is shown

but it was TWO minutes last night...then they did the opening, then they did the previous scenes. Dont they have enough material to fill the entire hour? I can live with previous scenes but not 2 minutes of 'coming up'

I suppose it's no different than going to a pool or beach in a bikini or whatever.

But yes, that scene seemed a bit contrived.

Too much crying.

Obviously we have the requisite Aaron crying, but again others crying and bawling. Never before has more than one person cried in a single episode of Hell's Kitchen, yet this season it happens every week.

Love the show, stop crying you freaking babies.

Second show of the season and we already have a team not only complete their service but finishes it up for the other team as well. It usually takes many weeks before teams are competant enough to complete a dinner service.

He won't stay past anyone who is actually deserving to be there, but he will be one of the last chaff to go, most likely.

To be fair, I think Ramsay let them go far longer than he would have in previous seasons. There's no way they deserved to make it all the way to 10:00 without him shutting it down.

Is there a separate thread anywhere for Kitchen Nightmares? I watched last week's (Lanterna) yesterday, and thought it was great. I couldn't believe the guy trying to sell his vanity license plate for GBP1800. (I don't know how to make the little pound symbol). Who in the world would pay that for that plate?

TonyTheTiger
06-15-2007, 09:28 AM
I've seen that episode. What you have to remember is that the system of licensing is different in the UK. You can't just request a vanity plate like you can here, it has to be issued by the guvmint (DVLC, Swansea, Wales for the whole UK). They are issued to identify the car, not the driver, so they stay with it when the vehicle is sold. Therefore there's a huge trade in vanity style license plates, which can be transferred from car to car.

Older plates can fetch huge sums of money. Things like your initials, etc.

I think the most expensive plate ever was RR1, but I can't remember how much it sold for.

Back to Kitchen Knightmares - I love this show. I caught the very end of last night's (Bonaparts) but it seemed to have a different ending to the UK version of the same show. Perhaps we need another thread to discuss it and not hijack this one?

Yeah, I still don't see how that plate "A1 6HEF" would be worth GBP1800 to anybody, and if he paid that much to get it in the first place, he's a fool.
