I am a newbie here, so please be gentle :)
My set-up: I have TiVo Series One with a 12 year old non-HD (duh) Pioneer Elite rear projection set. RCN cable (no choice, Manhattan coop building mandated provider).
RCN called and wants (demands?) to change the cable box to a DCT-700.
How do I get this to work with TiVo Series One?
Cables, IR?
Code?
Should I just say no thanks?
Help (please)
Thanks in advance.

I don't see that box listed in the compatibility thread.

It's probably a newer version, so maybe the codes of another Motorola DCT box will work.

I believe it uses standard Motorola cable box codes, it is just a bit tricky to align the blasters.

My decision so far is to just say no thanks to RCN. They seem to be pushing a rollout of a cheap not so great cable box due to some FCC deadline of July 1. Based on other forums, and since my set-up with a non-digital/non-HD TV works for now, I am waiting to see what happens after July.
Curious how many other Serie One with Lifetime Subscription are still out there :)

I hate this box. Wish I could have the old one back (DCT-2500 (http://broadband.motorola.com/consumers/products/dct2500/default.asp) - change channels with the serial port). The DCT-700 (http://broadband.motorola.com/consumers/products/dct700/) won't even turn on/change channels w/o a remote :(
As you stated drsteveb, I think they are trying to pawn off their inventory before the deadline, since these boxes don't support cablecards.
