So I've been watching... and waiting... and now there are only days left for the My TiVo Gets Me Contest (http://www.mytivogetsme.com/?contest) and I STILL see very few familiar faces in the Gallery. (Though I do see a few and hey, wow! Thanks. [You know who you are. ;)]).
We're giving away four Series3 HD boxes with product lifetime (!!!!!!) service along with 4 42" plasma screen TVs along with several other prizes like season tickets to your favorite sports team and a trip anywhere in the U.S. (And if you win... I'm your traveling companion, okay?)
Seriously. This is no time to be shy. :p
All you need to do is submit a 2-minute video on the subject of something you're passionate about and how TiVo relates to said passion... If I've ever met a community of PASSIONATE people, you all are *it* (for better or for worse sometimes, but I love it regardless, heehee!).
Okay, good. I will expect to see a surge of entries in the next few days featuring your lovely faces. Please send me an email smc(at)tivo.com when you post yours.

Not buying it. And hey--I've taken a bullet here and there for not living up to some people's standards of supreme-being Beauty (it's amazing what people feel free to say under the guise of an anonymous Internet persona, eh?) . But I mean c'mon -- what the &*%$? is THAT anyway? To me, everyone is beautiful so long as they are speaking their Truth. And I know everyone on this forum speaks their truth when it comes to TiVo! ;)
If you get nervous in front of a camera, I can understand that: But I'm certain there are creative ways around such a hurdle, if we put our thinking caps on. :D

A few problems:
1. I have no Video Camera, nor know anyone who has one.
2. The 42" TV would be nice, but the Series 3 is of no use to me. I am not changing my Television Service provider just for a Series 3. Make it a Series 2 DT and a little something extra and I may be in :D

I think the problem is that the whole "My TiVo gets me" campaign sucks, especially the website that can't even be navigated and everyone here knows it. The folks at TiVo must be feeling kind of desperate if they sent the rabbit to the hounds. Sadly, TiVoShanon doesn't exactly come here to post an original thought, she's just their little puppet.

MK -- I wholeheartedly agree: People are where it's at... and I guess in this case, your TiVo helped you get these great people. ;) Alas, I am certainly not here to coerce anyone into entering. My point is simple: It just seems a fairly easy way to possibly win some pretty great prizes and I'm surprised more people haven't entered. That's it.
If this isn't your thing, please continue on with your regularly scheduled programming and enjoy LIFE!. :)

And that's where I think the disconnect is. What you are assuming is "fairly easy" is in fact, not fairly easy for LOTS of people to do (dare I infer, for the majority of people?). I'm pretty sure this is why you haven't seen more people enter.

Good point!
Right now, besides the fact that the digital camera dock is 'acting up' on the Mac where it's currently plugged in, I still can't even host images on Flickr to post here to back up challenged assertions relating to picture quality, much less produce a two minute video regarding how 'TiVo Gets Me'!

Shannan is right. Considering all of you out there who actually believe Woot is going to send you a free Wii or plasma tv when you buy their excrement bags for a buck, the odds of actually winning something here is probably 1 in a few hundred. A million times better than Woot.
Could one of these people become the new Tivo Ambassador then? What happened to him and that car that was decorated and all that? Seemed like a good fun idea. So if I were making one, I'd do something like you saw on the ambassador, since we know that pleased the people doing the marketing. Decorate your car and film it, decorate your dog and let it run loose, hey, paint the tivo guy on your kids and send them to school. See, you don't have to be an actor to enter.

You make selling on eBay sound like a bad thing. If you don't have a need for the item you win thats $1200 in your pocket. It doesn't matter how its acquired what matters is how much its worth.

One thing I like about Tivo, I call it power watching. Since I only get a couple of hours of viewing time it's nice to be able to see only the parts of a show I want to see. Like How it's made for instance, I may only want to see how 1 of the 3 items are made. Or Chris Mind freak, I skip to the actual trick instead of watching the filler. Need I tell ya about power news! Maybe I can do a two minute skit where I plug my Tivo to my brain, scan in all the shows I would normally watch in an evening within the two minutes which will give me time to spend with the wife and kid???
How about bluetooth video glasses complete with surround sound and Tivo controls?
Now my problem, usually when I record an episode of a show like Hogan Hero's, the episode name shows in the list. I noticed lately in all my list, all the episodes just say the name of the show "Hogan Hero". Who's fault it that? Is it Tivo or the cable people?

BTW, I'm not sure that the video *has* to be two minutes. I think that's just the maximum....?
If you can only show how you love your TiVo in 30 seconds your TiVo may not love you back much longer.
BTW, never heard anything on that Home Movie contest, and it seemed like I was the only one playing - although I wasn't really playing either. ;)

I though the prize was an S3 w/lifetime (plus a 42" HDTV -well Plasma could be ED) :D
If the prize were an S3 with Lifetime, and MRV and TTG "accidentally" active, I'd have gone out and bought a new video camera and made 10 movies.

I think TiVoShanan does a good job, and her position as "spokesperson" is definitely needed - but come on TiVo, there has to be MORE than these stupid (sorry) one-off contests (hi, TiVo Ambassador!).
And there isn't much. The cold hard truth is that this contest will not sell a single TiVo. If it's a fun bonus to owners, fine. But I get the feeling that TiVo marketing thinks that this will actually help sales. I really hope I'm wrong, because otherwise they're REALLY screwed.

I think Tivo has a tough road ahead and any help they can get to put their names on the tongues of the masses will help. TV when you want it is the name of the future. Tivo is one concept but there are others now and will be others in the future. I'm looking at on demand as being another once Comcast goes all digital and free's up bandwidth. This promotional contest is far better bang for the buck than hiring an advertisement firm to come up with a catchy jingle.

TiVoShanan does do a good job. Maybe we should make her the "Tivo Ambassador" since the other one ran away to Mexico.

Titles are irrelevant. Shanan is Shanan. That is all that's necessary. That and the Princess thing, I mean.

But we still need a replacement Ambassador. Unless some Dictator comes and takes the place :D

Apparently you've noticed some of the outfits they've put Shanan into in those videos. :)
Update:
I move Sheena for TiVo Ambassador and "Jungle Princess (http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoID=2037155826)" in a Green move for TiVo. :)
