I have two tivo's. I want to know the best way to make my tivo's and my internet wireless. Do I really have to buy three separate wireless adapters? Basically what I want to do it Do all the fun Wireless stuff Tivo offers (I am not even sure what's what there so if anyone has any info on that it would be great, it all confuses me) and be able to have wireless internet as well so I can have a computer in the basement for my nephews to play on and a computer in the second story office. Someone please guide me in the right direction.

You will need a router connected to broadband internet and 1 wireless adapter for each tivo.

How are the Tivos connected now?
If they aren't networked now, you will need an adapter per DVR, and a router, plus whatever you need to connect your PC sto that network (if anything).
It should be said, wireless networking offers no feature benefit over wired networking, it just removes the likely complications of running wires. Look elsewhere to see what networking your DVRs offer.
You can read your user guide or tivo.com/networking

If you go wireless, I'd recommend spending the extra bucks and getting the Tivo adapter. I had some luck with a non-Tivo 802.11b but when upgrading to G, didn't have any luck until I used Tivo's G adapter. Of course you'll also need a router (lots of good G wireless routers out there) for your PC and the TivoToGo software to transfer from your Tivo to the PC. To run the latest TivoToGo you may need to be sure you have SP2 if you;re running an XP box.

If you can run cat 5 do it. There are a lot of problems a novice can run into with setting up a wireless network. It's not that hard to run wire thru a house and cat 5 can be run on the outside of the house. If you are not sure how to do it just follow the phone wire and run the cat 5 along side of it.

The wireless routers nowadays make setup very easy, even for a novice. I know a couple of people who are computer illiterate, and they had no problem setting up wireless connections in their houses. They just put in an install disc answered all of the questions and had the wireless router setup and working in no time. If they can do it, it must be pretty easy.
I know when I setup my girlrfriends two Series 2 TiVos for wirless the setup was pretty straight forward.
I run wired at my condo since I've been running a gigabit network since 2001. i do have wireless for my laptop but 20 other network devices connect with a wire.

jenniferwood75;
I would also recommend you connect anything you can with wire. You should locate your cable modem/router someplace where something can be connected directly with wire. Does either of your computers have wireless or Ethernet built in? Is either of your TiVos a Series 2 DT or a Series 3? (which have built in Ethernet)? If you specify what your setup/equipment is you could get some more recommendations.
Good Luck,

Another idea, why not get a Modem/Router in one that offers both wired and wireless setup?
My DSL 2Wire Modem does just that.
That way, you can have a wired and wireless network. Run wired to the devices close to the Modem/Router, wireless for those further away. :D

It would offer a likely mediocre router, compared to separates.
With a separate router, you can get the router with features and capabilities you want, not be tied to what modem/router combos you can get for your provider.
