Just have a quick question and didn't know where to post it. I now have 2 tivos and am considering buying another one. I know there is a discounted price of 6.95 for every tivo after the first one. But there is no option of that when you buy online at the tivo website. The only options is the flat 12.95 a month or a 12 month payment option. If I select one of those options will it automatically switch to the discount after I activate the tivo?

Tivos purchased from tivo.com do not qualify for the MSD, they are however are a qualifying subscription so your existing TiVo's subscription price may be lowered. You should read the MSD Agreement (http://www.tivo.com/5.11.4.asp)

Tivo packages (all Tivos bought from Tivo.com) are not eligible for Multi-Service Discount (MSD). I am assuming you are looking at the $50 Web Special (factory-renewed Dual Tuner Unit). If you go that route, you won't be eligible for MSD on that unit until after a year is up.
However, if you are paying $12.95 per month on your first Tivo of the two Tivos you already own (assuming it doesn't have Lifetime Service or isn't also a Tivo Package), the new Tivo would serve as a qualifying unit and you could get $6 off the monthly fee on the first Tivo.

That's not the case. It used to be, but not any more. The MSD rate is $6 less than the monthly rate for the same commitment period. If you commit to one year, the MSD rate would be $10.95/mo ($16.95 - $6). A two year vcommitment will get you a MSD rat of $8.95/mo ($14.95 - $6) and a three year commitment will get you the $6.95/mo rate ($12.95/mo - $6). There is no prepay option for any of the MSD rates.

Any Tivo purchased from Tivo.com does not qualify for the MSD.
Also, mick66 is right. You get $6.00 off a Month for each additional unit, but the actual price depends on your commitment.

So....I have a lifetime 80 hour single tuner...and I received a 140 hour unit as a reward member willing to pre-pay a year service at $12.95, but since I had the life time the 12.95 almost got me two years of service at $6.95 a year.
That sub just ran out...and now they want $6.95 a month...
I was thinking of letting that unit run out...and getting the web special dual tuner for $49.99 and pre-paying the year and getting another 22 months sub...but you are saying that no longer applies...I see that the unit does not qualify for MSD...that really is a bummer...sounds like the best option is to ante up the $6.95 a month...

Except for special deals which that other TiVo might have been, you normally cannot prepay for MSD.

I have a co-worker that wants to just flatout buy 2 tivo's
If he wants 2 80 hour DT's, how should he go about getting
-One at a 3 year pre-pay
-2nd at 6.95 /month MDS?

MikeMar;
I would order one from TiVo.com with the 3 year prepaid and then buy the second someplace else (like this site's store) and get the rebate and then make a 3 year service commiment and get the $6.95/mo MSD rate.
Good Luck,

Yeah I figured that was an option, but wondering if you can do it ALL on the site so he doesn't have to deal with sending in the rebates.
I'm pretty sure he could buy 1 prepay, activate it, then buy another monthly, activate it at 6.95/3 year.
Just wondering if you could do both at the same time or not.

Anything purchase from TiVo.com does not qualify for the MSD so no he could not buy both from TiVo.com and get the MSD.
