I could use some advice. Currently I have a Sony SVR-3000 (80 hour) and have Comcast analog cable, without a set-top box. I love not having the box.
I am about to move, and I think that Comcast will force me to switch over to digital cable, which requires a set-top box. (Does anyone know if//how I could keep my analog Comcast cable service when I move?)
If I have to have a box, then should I stay with Comcast? Or switch to satellite (either Dish or DirecTV)? Will my SVR-3000 talk to these boxes and handle all the channel switching, as if there were no box at all, from the user's perspective?
My SVR-3000 has lifetime service, and so I'm not excited about switching to a different DVR.
Any advice appreciated.
p.s. long term, I will probably eventually switch over to an HD TV, and get HD DirecTV with a DirecTivo (when they start offering those again) that has two tuners, and just pay the monthly DVR fee. But that is hopefully 1-2 years away since I want to stick with my analog TV and current TiVo unit as long as possible.
