View Full Version : tivo not getting a signal

I am getting the 'cant watch live TV' tivo message. There appears to be no signal coming in to the Tivo. It was all right last night!
As an obvious check I have bypassed Tivo and plugged the TV straight to the cable unit (An NTL/Virgin Pace) and the cable unit is working fine. The scart from tivo to tv is fine as I can see old recordings (and of course the Tivo menu). I have swapped the scart from Pace to Tivo with a known good cable, and still no joy.
Any advice would be welcome

Have you tried turning off the Tivo by turning off the power and turning off your cable box. Then turn on the cable box, wait 3 minutes for it to boot up fully, then turn on your Tivo at the mains.
Now see if your Tivo can see the cable box again.

So I went out for the day, thinking to h*** with the Tivo, came back late Sunday and lo and behold its working normally and receiving signal from the Pace heap ( what a terrible box, btw)
I did nothing to make it work so I'm thinking maybe there's a circuit board in there with a crack that may be responding to heat. I am just hoping it will now stay working, with Virgin On Demand not working properly with Pace box I need the Tivo for entertaiment!

Same thing happened to me a few weeks back. Only a full power off seemed to solve it for some reason?
