Well, that was unsatisfying.
Except that Hok is in.
Hok made it! Hok made it! Hey, somebody's gotta celebrate, since he can't. ;)
I can see why a lot of people skip the audition rounds now. Because the show where they announce the final 20 is when you figure it out -- they haven't shown you a LOT of the people who make it to the final 20 yet.
To be fair, though, I'm glad I'm not the person who chooses which parts of the process make it on the air.
Gotta agree with the comments in the thread for the Wednesday show that this is not as interesting as the way it was done before. Remember in previous years when the dancers were broken into groups of 10 to take class with the choreographers to work in the smaller studios, and we saw the dance-offs between the two dancers, where people were playing off each other? That was fun.
This, not so much.

I am disappointed in that most of the contestants that we've seen previously are now off the show. I really liked the girl with one arm. She was good. Also, the girl with the sick mother (Olivia?), she got perhaps the most screen time of anyone thus far, and was just unceremoniously dumped at the beginning of the show. I thought we would get to see more of the dancers final-round solo routines.
I'm glad Hok is in, but from what we've seen of Twitch, he was better than some of the other people. I don't understand how the judges could keep some contestants even though they were only good at their particular genre, and dump other contestants for the same reason.

I really, really like Hok, but have to wonder how well he is going to do in other styles. I think that as much as they chose their top 20 they also cast a reality show and Hok has quite a following from years past.
I think one arm girl should have stayed. Olivia- I am happy she is gone as she was a drama queen and a poor loser. I like the kids that took the bad news well and realize that their life will go on and other opportunities will present themselves. Their parents raised them right. The whiny losers that stomp off annoy me. Anyone can be a graceful winner- it's being graceful in defeat that defines you.
Lots of the final 20 were new faces and I am looking forward to getting to know them. As it stands I have no idea. But I like Rickey and see nothing odd about him at all. And yes, I agree that Danny got a bad edit- manufacturing drama anyone?
I can't wait to see how they pair them up-are any of the girls small enough to look good dancing with Hok? He looks diminutive onscreen.

I wish they would have done more clips of that amazing pop locker from Houston (Phillip?) and that nerdy clogger.
This season's crop of females are pretty hot. The previous two seasons had some fugly people make the top 20.

The Vegas ones are always my least favorite. It seems like there's no connection between the ones who are featured during the first set of auditions, and the ones who make the show. I haven't watched last night's yet, but I caught the final 20 at the end and recognized... Hok... and maybe one or two of the Russian names. Was Benjy's sister or cousin or whatever there? My wife said yes but I don't remember.
I mostly want to know what happened to the popper guy and the clogger (just like laststarfighter). Did they show the football guy get eliminated? I don't remember.
Edit to add: just checked the thread for Wednesday's episode, here is a post from earlier today:
And what the heck happened to the "hiccup and wink" couple? They got through (I thought) and then were never seen again.+1

....and thank god for that. She was definitely going to be a HUGE drama queen, and was already getting pretty annoying.

Was Benjy's sister or cousin or whatever there? My wife said yes but I don't remember.Yes; she was the one of the final two girls that was chosen. They really came down on her and said she made it by the barest tiny margin.
I think the judges are pretty mean to the people who are staying on the show... making them think they're going home then giving them the good news. Both Lauren and Jessica looked about to collapse before they were told they were in, especially Jessica.

I personally liked the guy who danced to the Imogen Heap song "Hide and Seek."
I understand that whey they edit the audition rounds, they have no idea who's going to make it through to Vegas, but on the Vegas shows, I think they should show more of the dancers who made it into the top 20. I would have loved to see what that guy could do, and also the "weird" guy that Mia loves - as they put it, Mia is a gangster and anyone who impresses her like that has got to be terrific.
Some of the people that made it through had me thinking "Who is this person?" I think they are "tailoring" the show to get votes for the people they want to win, and doing this by showing more of those folks.
I was also torn between whether or not they should let the relatives of previous contestants in - Faina (Stanislav's sister) was good - she's not they prettiest, but definitely has the most sex appeal, kind of like Natalie except not as pretty. Tyce's assistant girl didn't seem that great to me from what we'd seen. Benji's sister was like Benji without the charisma.
I really want to see next week now!

This is the 1st time I've watched this show - the woman judge who laughs like Crusty the Clown just annoys the heck out of me!

I would have liked less judges and more dancing, plain and simple. These people are dancing their hearts out as if their future depended on it and instead we have judges acting like all that and a bag of chips.
Shane should just break off and do his own show.
that being said I look forward to the main show and will have my mute button ready for annoying laugh judge
