French Open: Why not in HD, NBC???

Why is NBC not showing the French Open in HD? ESPN2's coverage this week has been in HD, so the equipment is obviously there. Don't know if the Tennis Channel is broadcasting in HD (since we only got the SD feed).

My undesrtanding (I have not watched much of it myself), is the ESPN is show the tourney in SD widescreen, not HD. I think there is only a 576p widescreen source, so HD is not possible...

Even if it's Widescreen SD, the ESPN-2 broadcast broadcast definitely looked better. Dissapointing that NBC is showing a 4:3 broadcast.

ESPN2HD is definitely in SD. It looks better because it's upconverted and also the SD on NBC, at least my local NBC is awful. You must have noticed that some SD channels look better than others. I don't know if some are more compressed that others or what.
