hi. i picked up a used hdvr2 that came with software version 3.1.u5. i have never heard of this version. what are the benefits of it, or should i try and download the current software. thanks.

and it will get the latest on it's own via the phone line (assuming the unit hasn't been hacked to prevent it)

3.1 u5 was the exploitable release that sleeper and early monte setups were based on... that means there's every chance the unit IS probably hacked with a monte setup (which often screws up if trying to do a regular s/w upgrade). Check the link for unmonte on my wiki for more info.
