Hi, I fitted a 300GB Samsung drive about 3 months back from a dying Maxtor 120GB. Ever since, tivo menus seem slow, especially compared to a friends virgin 40GB. What really does hack me off is when scrolling through now playing, Im pressing page down to get to the suggestions, the left LED is blinking orange but the menu doesnt react. After about 20-30 seconds it goes "blub blut, blub blut, blub blut" etc - LOL, as ive got impaient and pressed it several times, thinking the first button didnt register. I have set all my recordings to medium and I have deleted all but 30 recordings.

Does anyone else have this problem?
My mem info below:

Sounds like you might need a cachecard there - with lots of recordings, Now Playing does get slow. The Cachecard does the same as a Turbonet card (i.e. gives network access), but also allows 512Mb memory to be added which caches some (if not all) of the data - resulting in quicker menus.

There was a thread on here with someone else complaining that even after deleting a lot of recording the menu speeds were glacial - a reboot was suggested to clear down the database of the deleted recordings but I don't remember if it was tried.

The ultimate solution is a cachecard with RAM which will bring even a fairly full Tivo back to speed. I noticed a difference on my 150GB Tivo using Best so I can imagine on a full 300GB with medium menu speed must be horrid.

Cachecards are available from
www.tivoheaven.com
www.tivoland.com
http://www.9thtee.com/tivocachecard.htm (in the US)
and ebay.co.uk sometimes.

Can i use the turbonet card to copy the cachecard drivers onto the hardisk, install them, then swap my turbonet card to a cachecard?

cachecard makes a major difference to the menus, (along with the US Black remote to speed things up that bit more). After the bigger drive fitment, The cachecard was one of the best things I ever did with tivo. It is very rare that the menus bog down anymore

If the menus have been slow from the very moment the upgrade was carried out it could be something else.

One common problem to rule out is stray IR signals causing Tivo to ignore the remote control.

Do you have a video sender? If yes, try turning it off to see if it helps.

If not, ignore my posting :)

Make a thread, you may find someone who will swap a CC for your TNet and a little cash?
