Hi all,

Bit of background first: I have a Samsung DTivo, hacked and upgraded approximately three years ago, still running 3.1.1e. At the time, I used Gunny's instructions in conjunction with the PTVUpgrade disks to get it hacked and networked. Since then, I've not kept up with developments in the scene. At all. Zipper and RBautch's enhancements are all news to me at this point.

Recently, I switched from a Dlink internet gateway to a Linksys. As you may already know, they have different default subnets, requiring me to go back into my DTivo and change the static addressing.

Last night, after three years of not thinking about how to do it, I found my way back into the DTivo via telnet and an older Dlink router, and changed what I *thought* was the correct location for static IP addressing. Due to my lack of tivo-tinkering over the past three years, coupled with my level of fatigue and haste to leave for a conference this morning, I was much more hasty than I should have been, and did *not* document everything, much less remember where I'd changed the dynamic addressing to static addressing.

Needless to say, I borked the job somehow, and now can't get a telnet session going. I have a feeling I needed to change the IP in multiple places (maybe?) and now there are conflicting addresses locking things up. The DTivo is still functioning great, but I just can't get into it from my other PCs.

All of this was going to be a request for advice on how best to get back into the DTivo and where I'd need to appropriately change the static IP, but I got to reading that 6.2 may be a possibility as an upgrade, so I was going to ask advice on how to catch up with whatever may be the best option for re-establishing communication with my DTivo, *without* losing recorded materials on the HDD.

Would upgrading to 6.2 do what I need it to?

Bah...losing familiarity with a subject really stinks. Any pointers to where I should be reading now would be great. Thanks.
