Been constantly making Daily Calls for the last 3 or 4 days and always comes up with this.
Spoke with TiVo Helpline for 20 minutes. Went though every possible reason it wouldnt be able to connect.
The modem cable works.
The phone line is active, has a dial tone and can dial.
Every TiVo function works perfectly.
Aside from mucking about with cachecards and who knows what else, what can I do?
This is an original TiVo - Thomson Scenium.
Had it since they came out and it's never had any problems.
Any ideas?

Does it actually dial out? Ie have you picked up your phone when the tivo is trying to make its call so you can actually hear it?

On Monday, yes, it was.
Since then, no. It's like it's hardly even trying anymore.

Hmnn, if its not even trying to dial out it might be a faulty modem. In which case you will have to go the cachecard route cos the modems are non replaceable.

Are you sure you're using a compatible modem lead? Not all are the same....

There are generally two types of modem lead - the line on pins 2 and 5, or pins 3 and 4 of the 6P4C RJ11 end (the line is on 2 & 5 on the BT end)
6P4C referrs to the fact that these connectors (both the BT and RJ11) are actually 6 position plugs, although the outermost 2 pins are absent. The remaining pins are still referred to as 2,3,4 and 5.

Do a cold reboot by getting to Powering Up through System Reset menu then pull the power plug and wait 2 minutes. Then reinsert power lead and boot up as normal. Then reboot again through the System Reset menu not pulling the plug at powering Up.
Now re-run Guided Setup on to a different hardware platform (eg aerial instead of Digital Cable) and different postcode. Then wait 2 to 3 hours for indexing to finish.
Now repeat the double reboot above with first power off reboot then a warm reboot.
Now re-run Guided Setup back to your actual program source platform and postcode.
See if all now runs normally?
If not do a Clear and Delete Everything and then repeat all of the other steps above and see if the problem is then fixed.
