Can MFSTOOLS be used to make the transition from an old A drive to a new bigger A drive on an R10 unit?

I tried it out and everything appeared to work properly, but with the new bigger A drive in the R10 it gets to the Almost there, just a few minutes more... and reboots constantly.

I suspect that the old A drive has issues because the unit was rebooting every 10 minutes or so though it didn't have any issues making a backup image to another drive (tivo.bak file) and then doing a full drive copy to a new A drive was fine... though trying to do a DD previously bombed out with drive errors.

It will, if the A drive is good enough to get a good image off of. If not, you need to obtain an image, or get instantcake.

ok, thanks for the reply, I wasn't sure with all the RID and security in this unit if it would work or not.

I made a backup of the original A drive, I'll try restoring just that and hope that it works.

Thanks!

Just an update, I did try restoring just the backup and it did exactly the same thing.

Went and bought the instantcake for the R10, imaged it, clear and delete and it's working mostly as intended. Missing locals, but I did the reset through the DTV web site and it should be good now.
