View Full Version : Is S3 slower than S2 DT?

I just picked up an S3 from the local Best Buy today (couldn't wait to have one shipped) and I hooked it up to my cable. Just analog at this point w/o cable cards. Changing channels seems pretty slow. There is always a second or two delay before the new channel shows up. On my S2's, it's virtually instantaneous. Perhaps there is background setup stuff going on or I need to get the latest sw downloaded? I just wasn't too impressed with that speed and would assume that S3 is at least as fast as S2.
What is everyone else's experience? Thanks!

Well, anything is faster than the Moto DVR that I am replacing!
Menus seem fast, it's just the channel change. Hopefully it will straighten out.

Depending on the output format you chose on the S3, your TV may be taking a couple of seconds to change over (eg from 410i to 720p to 1080i). Some TVs take a long time. The S2 is outputting only one format.
In addition, I expect it takes the S3 a bit to change its internal processing as it changes between channels with different formats. The S3 processing is much more complicated than the S2!
