All-
Long time lurker, but first post. Lately my S3 has developed this very unusual audio problem. So far it's only happened twice, both programs were HD and being viewed as recordings not live. In short, the dialog track drops out for a period of several minutes. I don't lose sound entirely, as I can still hear the background (ambience, music, sound effects). Just as randomly as it disappears, it comes back.
This happened first during an episode of "Criminal Minds" a couple weeks ago. The section affected was the opening scene before the title roll. Once the title ran the commercials aired with normal audio and when the program resumed everything was back to normal.
Tonight it just happened again while I was watching last nights episode of "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip". Unlike the first time, this time the audio dropped in the middle of a scene that had started off fine. It persisted until a commercial break, the commercials were again normal, and then when the program resumed it dropped out again. A few minutes later the program audio finally returned to normal.
These are on two different networks, on different nights.
In a vaguely similar situation, I lost *all* audio while watching another HD show the other evening, but jumping back in the buffer a few times caused it to return. However, in both these cases that wouldn't fix the dropout nor would exiting and restarting the program.
In both cases the audio would consistently drop out and return at the same points.
My setup is very simple: S3 connected to the TV by HDMI. No recievers or other components.
Has anyone had similar problems, or heard of anything that would cause this? A faulty cable is the only thing that makes sense to me, but considering that I'm not losing *all* audio, and that it's only happening in specific programs at specific times leads me to believe it's something else.
Any ideas how to fix it? As a workaround, I've been lucky that the programs had CC data, so I turned that on until the dialog returned.
Thanks!
