Any deals on service for S3?

I just got my S3 yesterday and of course I missed the rebate. So to ensure I do make the wrong move again, what is the best deal one can get on service for the S3?

I gather I am too late to transfer my lifetime subscription from my S1. Correct?

Also, I see posting refering to giftcards from eBay. What is that about?

I was able to transfer my S2 Lifetime to the S3. I got the S3 on May 7 and believe that I transferred on May 12 or 13th. I called, gave the account info and asked about transferring and she said I could do a "one time transfer" for a fee of $199.00 and that included a year subscription for the S2.

How long has this $299 for 3 years been available? Any guesses as to whether or not it will go away any time soon?

It started shortly after the screwed up their service only options in Nov 2006.

Return the unit (if you can) and re-purchase to get the rebate. Then follow the advice of the other posts. (If you have another TiVo you can get $6.95/month rate that is better then the $299 for three years)
