What am I not understanding??

Okay, I've run installed a new 300GB HD, InstantCake and PTVnet. Everything seems to have gone well.

What I don't understand is how I get this thing networked. I have a an RCA DVR39. When I ran PTVnet, I had it enable the USB ports. Now what? I have a TIVO branded wireless G network adapter. Will that work now that the USB ports are on or do I need one of the other adapters?

I know that on regular Tivos, there is a place to set up "phone and networking" in the menus. I haven't found such a place since running PTVnet.

I've seen where some posts say to install software by FTP. Can I just run a USB cord from my laptop?

I just need a push in the right direction.

TiVo G adapter, no.
Certain B/G/Ethernet adapter, yes.

TMK, there is no networking menu on the D-TiVos running 6.x, networking is set up form a script.

To FTP you need a network adapter, however you can do much of the same things for system manipulation and moviing system files back and forth with a serial cable.
