Satllite 2 works but 1 does not so DTV does not work

I have a DSR704 that stopped recording at the end on March. I just went to the location and found that the satellite signal for input 1 cannot be found and input 2 is around 90. When I swap the cables the problem stays with input 1. Is there a way to make the unit use sat2 instead of sat 1 through software somehow? It was not evident to me.

I have a dsr7000 that I hacked. This is a standard unit. If I need to repalce the 704 I was going to get another 7000 so I can use the same software on both.
All suggestions are appreciated.

This forum is for more "general" help with TiVo problems, not DirecTV problems

Unfortunately there's no way to force the DirecTivo to use Sat2 input only. Some folks have tried swapping the two tuner modules on the motherboard, but that's not for the faint-of-heart.

You can use the same sofware on all non-R10 S2 DirecTV TiVos, if its hacked anyways.

The instacake software image however is model specific. At least that is what is seems when you order it so I would imagine that I could not use the same image from my 7000 on a 704.
