My s3 TiVo has been having problems with HD. Other than that it works. TiVo has agreed to replace it (for $49 plus shipping). Is there anyway I can backup personal data from the Tivo and restore it to the new one. By data I mean some or all of
Season Passes
Thumbs ratings
Settings and Preferences
Wish Lists
etc...
The way I imagine this would work is by backing up this data from the TiVo over the network to my PC. Then when I got the new TiVo I could restore it to the new Tivo over the network from my PC.
Somehow I imagine there is no way to do this, but thought I would ask. I am certainly not the first person to have this dilemma.
Thanks

You're right, there's currently no approved way.
If you want to try something that might work for at least the SP and Wishlists, but nobody knows exactly what is happening, try subscribing to KidZone. That will give you an "opt-in" privacy setting (which may or may not be an issue for you). That allows the TiVo central servers to keep more information about you, including your SPs. People have reported having their SPs magically appear on a replacement TiVo after a call or two.
This started happening after the "KidZone" release, but nobody knows whether it's Kidzone (and/or Guru Guides) or just the "opt-in" privacy setting or what... Any experimental evidence you can report would be appreciated - TiVo has never announced or advertised this, although TiVoPony acknowledged that something was up!

I wonder if the opt-in privacy setting for KidZone is the same opt-in for the Universal Swivel Search? That way you would not have to subscribe to KidZone.

It should be, as I was "Opt-In" already for Kidzone etc and didn't need to do so again for the swivel search...
Of course, I stopped using the KidZone almost right away (tried to use it to keep my recordings separate from my roommates- he hardly watched anything except a few specific shows so I put them under the KidZone area), but it was too annoying to have to enter in a password - if there had been an option to use no password like just "enter/select" to create a "blank" passkey, then that would be cool.
It's really easy to enable/disable KidZone on the Tivo, but as I have already stated, the "Opt-In" should be taken care of if you have done it for anything (with Tivo) already....

I wil certainly give that a try, but won't count on it. Thanks for the info. Any other suggestions out there?

The usual suggestion is to take digital photos of the various screens so that you can refer to them later. There's no way to preserve these settings for the general user.
