Series 1 Tivo connection to comcast cable box

I can't get my Tivo Series 1 to work witha Motorola Comcast cable box. Tivo will not switch the signal and record

What have you done to make it work?

Have you set the TiVo to work with a cable box, and identified YOUR box for the machine?

Have you tried adjusting the codes or speed of the IR flashes?

Are you trying to use an IR emitter, or serial cable?

We need more info.

Thanks for any help you can give. I've connected the IR (prune color) to IR out IR Emitter

It's a motorla digital cable box RCA TV and Video input is OK

Have you gone thru all the steps of Guided Setup?

What HAVE you done, and what HAS happened?

Thanks for you help Stupid me !! I did not have the TV on channel 4!!!!
Now it works. But I am getting a lot of full stops almost there just a few seconds more. So I pull the plug and kill TIVO then it reboots and works for a while any ideas on this?
I assume I have a defective part somewhere in the Tivo, so do I have to send it back to Phillips for repair?
