Can't open Tivo DesktoCan somp on iMac

I run OSX 10.4.9 on an Intel-based iMac. I've downloaded Ti
Vo Desktop 1.9.3_008 and the TiVo Desktop icon appears in my system preferences. When I try to open it to turn it on, however, I get the message "Loading TiVo Desktop" but it never loads. Can someone help?

One time I helped someone else with this problem, it was discovered that there was no computer name in their Sharing Preference Pane. Take a look and see what's in there. If it's blank, put in a name -- or if the name has unusual characters in it, simplify it.

Thanks for letting me know -- since this has now worked twice, I think this qualifies as a See-->Do item (when you See this, you need to Do that)
