This one is the first season I have ever watched, I won't make that mistake 2 more times...

This one is the first season I have ever watched, I won't make that mistake 2 more times...Hey don't give up. When 24 is good, it's very, very...well, it's at least better than it was this season!

I'm pretty firmly on board with the 'why?' crowd now.

They'd (FOX) be better off running Drive instead. :D

I watched it for the first time last year and really really liked it. This season...eh. I missed more eps than I watched.

Seasons 1, 2, 4 and 5 were pretty good in my opinion...

Everyone trips. I think they've learned their lesson and we'll have an awesome season next year. ;)

Unless there's a drastic change to the series, I probably still won't tune back in. I personally think they should move the series to a different city, for instance.

They also really need to go back to the multiple plot tracks happening simultaneously... they really de-emphasized that in recent seasons, basically pretending action everywhere else virtually stops when they're not showing it.

They also really need to really re-emphasize the "events occur in real time." I got really tired of characters doing a 8 hour trip in 15 minutes or whatever. I think they should basically graph out every single character's entire 24 hours, including planning when they're driving from one place to another, laying down to sleep, talking to someone, whatever they're doing, so they they can accurately show the multi-pane screens portraying more than one area of events going on at the same time.

I have confidence that this was just a down year and they will straighten the show out for next season.

I'm done. I loved season 1. Gave up midseason on the one with the drug dealer prison break virus thing. Came back for Beroooz! Gave up on this one two or 3 weeks ago.

So you're on board with my decision, right? Unless Tony and Michelle come back next season as zombies and use their flesh hunger for good, don't watch 24 again.

If nothing else, I think next year will be better just in response to how this year was. They might not be able to sustain it, but I'm confident that there will be a reaction that we'll see on the screen.

I'll keep watching it. As bad as this season was its still better than most shows on TV now.

What I'd like to see them to, I've mentioned in another thread. It's not going to happen though. I really hope that the show responds to how bad this year was by reaffirming what made the show great to start with.

Was season 4 the one with the mummy as the bad guy? I kept wondering why he didn't just sandstorm the city he wanted destroyed. A little plague, a few locusts, and that would be the end of LA.

Please please please let them change things up next year.

Get them out of LA for starters!

If the writers thought everything was OK, I think I'd pass, but since they realized (and admitted) what a bag of suck they produced this year, I'm interested in giving them a chance to fix it.

They killed off all the characters around Jack. Lame. They wrote themselves into a corner. Jack needs someone more likeable than Chloe to be a consistant sidekick in his dealings.

I don't know it I'd say I'm "confident", but I'm willing to give the first couple of episodes of next season a chance. I know they're potentially capable of much better.

I felt the same way near the end of season 4 as I do now, and I'm really glad I watched season 5. It's still fun TV despite the increasingly strained credulity, IMO.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one in the "if it's as bad as this season, I won't be watching" camp. The only reason we watched this season is because the family emails and discusses the show every Tuesday.

My SiL says it will get better, but I'm not convinced.

Another thing I'd like to see - less Jack in the dark holding a gun to someone's head and shouting at them; more Jack outside in the day, doing stuff like car chases and stuff. Plus explosions, explosions are always cool.

As long as you skip most of season 2 and all of season 3. ;)

When did this happen?First episode of season 5 (last season) they killed 2, and seriously wounded another, long-running sympathetic characters from previous seasons. The wounded character also died before the end of the season (that's a spoiler, I guess).

Here's (http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/TV/05/16/television.24.reut/index.html) a little more information on the next two seasons. They're confirming a new location for next season; possibly two locations for the 24-hour time period.

But during its current sixth season, "24" has drawn criticism from fans about losing some of its creative footing.

[executive producer/showrunner] Gordon said he felt those assessments were "unfair." "On balance, it was a very successful season," he said.

Doesn't sound like they've admitted it's a bag of suck.

Jack in the dark holding a gun to someone's head and shouting at them is one of the precise reasons I like the show.

Not having that would like watching a warm and fuzzy House that DOESN'T make snide remarks to his team and doesn't make sexual jokes (usually ass-related) about Cutty.

EDIT: Or like Chloe smiling.

A mediocre "24" is better than most everything else on...so I welcome the next 2 years and am confident than can get back on top...

That article has some much needed good news about the show. I think should say that it contains spoiler-esque content.

(the link in that thread to the article isn't working for me right now, but Google has a cache (http://209.85.165.104/search?q=cache:1mWaV4yS-ZMJ:www.tvweek.com/news.cms%3FnewsId%3D11981+24+%22cites+lack+of+planning%22&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us) of it)

Well I think I agree (as some others in this thread apparently do) with what he's saying now. Basically that, yes, we had some trouble but it's not as bad as it's being made out to be (and I'm guilty of that, calling it a "bag of suck"). All told, it's still been a mostly entertaining season.

Also, I think we (in forums) magnify each other's impressions. I think I would have enjoyed this season much more without reading what everyone else hated about it.
