*sigh*

Less than an hour to go... :(

This was my favorite show before AP trashed it. It was the only show I could watch in reruns. I'm going to miss it. Then again, I have all the DVD's, so I guess I can revisit Stars Hollow whenever I want. Tonight's going to be very sad. I'll probably cry like a baby. I've never before cared this much that a show was ending.

I'll probably cry like a baby.

I know I did. :(

It was a respectable finale, but it all seemed so fast, and the fans deserved so much more after seven seasons.

should have been 2 hours.
I'm a bit verklempt. :( Rosenthal did a fantastic job turning the show around though. We will forever speculate What Palladino would have done with the ending, but I can't imagine it being much different than what we got.
I'll miss this show and I've only recently become a fan. I started this season on CW and got caught up on ABC Family.

Agreed.

And, FWIW, Ausiello has said he's trying to get AS-P to spill the beans on what her last four words would've been. Probably "I love you, Rory."

Gunnyman

Biggest choke up moment for me:
"You've given me everything I need Mom"
Also Richard's words to Lorelai were perfect. Emily saying them would have sounded sarcastic and insincere.

Solid end to the series. Should of been 2 hours IMO but well done for 1 hour. Richard had a great little speech to lorelai. So glad that christopher and logan were not in the final episode.

No need. Palladino swore to Ausiello that when GG was over she would tell him her final words.

Alright, I'll plead gross ignorance. I understand that AS-P had this planned ending of what her final four words would have been. But how important could they have been? It's not like there was some great conspiracy involved, so how important could these last four have been?

Maybe it was, "I'm a bitter c*@t."

Sorry, just don't get it...although I haven't seen the last two weeks.

Correct. Lauren Graham alluded to this in her final interview with Ausiello:

When we finished [shooting], there was a 50/50 chance we'd be returning. So when we left the wrap party, we were like, "Bye! See ya next season!"

cyke93

They really should've set up the finale to set up for a shortened 8 season. The finale was solid, but very rushed. It should've been 2 hours.

Did I like the whole Luke/Lorelie thing? No, but at least they didn't shove it down out throats, which was good.

Some cons:

- I would've liked to have seen a call or something from Logan, to at least say bye and leave a window of opportunity for them. (I guess an 8th season would leave us all guessing). Also Christopher saying bye to rory or something. I hate that he and lorelei didn't end up together.
-Where's Paris ?! I'm glad that lane got some time in with rory. For someone who is her bestfriend, they only appear in like 2-3 episodes per season. But Paris was very much missed. I would've liked to see her and doyle there as well.
- I also would've liked to have seen a little bit more of Michele and Lorelei interact with Suki (hence 2 hours !!!)
- what happened to april? lol

Some good:
- the resolution between the gilmores. lorelei and emily coming to terms with agreeing to disagreeing and that she didn't need to "bribe" lorelei into having dinner together.
- of course the interaction with lorelei and rory

but overall i was very emotional. i loved this show, althought it lost me after the whole mess with lorelei and christopher. But on a personal level, i could totally relate to rory. i graduated (albeit 5 months ago) but my graduation is in 2 days, i'm off for vacation for 2 weeks n then im gone and leaving home for good and starting a new job. so yeah .. thanks GG

The recurring character that I kept looking for and didn't see was Mrs. Kim. :)

Graymalkin
05-16-2007, 08:17 AM
Yes, I missed Mrs. Kim as well. That was unfortunate. Also Sebastian Bach -- at least I think the actor's name is Sebastian Bach?

I think Paris had her moment last week, at graduation. Also Christopher.

The show ended up exactly where it should have -- Lorelei and Rory having breakfast in Luke's Diner, with Luke whipping up pancakes at the grill.

I always enjoyed seeing Sebastian Bach on the show.

I was very happy with the ending. Richard's little speech and Emily kept trying to interrupt was so good. I also liked when Lorelei casually mentioned that she'd still be coming to Friday night dinners. I thought it was a nice touch that they got Christiane Amanpour to appear as a guest at the inn since Rory mentions her constantly.

I'm even happy with Rory's "new job" which re-affirms all the decisions she made last week.

it would've been to cliche for rory to have gotten the NY Times. it's just like going to harvard. with her character, i would've liked for her and logan to have at least one more conversation .. either on phone or in person just to say bye and end things on a better note. it also seemed to rushed when rory came in to dinner and said she got a job. but hey it was the finale

I don't agree with the sentiment that it should've been two hours. Actually, that's not entirely accurate considering I watched the last two episodes just now. I thought the final two episodes were a good two-hour finale. But I thought this episode was a perfect ending, and the rushed feeling was spot on for what the storyline called for.

I'm beginning to think I'm genetically unable to cry after watching this. Glad to see Luke and Lorelai will wind up together.

nirisahn
05-16-2007, 10:50 PM
I knew it. I cried. It's just a tv show, and I sat there crying while I watched it.

I wish Mrs. Kim had been there. It was a good ending, though. It was so typical Luke for him to put that party together and to sit there sewing tarps to make a tent for the party.

I'll miss seeing new Gilmore adventures, but at least I can see the old ones whenever I want. Thank goodness for DVD's.

I'm sad to see GG go. It was a great show shortened by petulant adolescent fighting between AS-P, DP, and the network. I'd rather not even know what the final four words are. if AS-P gave a flip about the fans she would've forked them over to Rosenthal or not thrown the show under a bus to begin with.

Ok, ranting aside...I had tears more than a few times. It's hard to see people going their seperate ways. I think the tears were more for the show leaving than for the episode.
I liked:
The Luke/Lorelai thing.
The Friday night dinner resolution.
Richard's talk to Lorelai.
Everyone steamrolling Taylor for the party.
Lorelai shopping her emotions away becasuse she knew THIS was the real leaving the nest time for Rory.
Rory, not knowing she was leaving the nest for good.
Lane telling Zack to tell everyone to shut-up and sit down...she'd be done with her best friend when she was done.
I'm sure I left a few things out....

I'm not sure what I wanted for the seires ending, but it did seem fitting for them to end up at the diner eating breakfast, drinking coffee, with Luke cooking...I'm sad... :(

I would have to go back to the Mary Tyler Moore or Dick Van Dyke show to find a show as enjoyable as GG. I enjoyed watching every character of Stars Hollow. As a man who is not afraid to admit he watches GG, I'll admit it was tears and not sweat running down my check while watching the Series Finale. :(

I liked most of the episode. I think the Luke/Lorelai kiss felt rushed - almost as an add-on. I think most of what led up to it was great, but there should've been something more. It felt off somehow. The rest of the episode made me weepy in spots.

I loved the show, it was time for it to go, and it went out with class. I don't think it needed two hours, it was perfect as it was. The party the town gave Rory was wonderful, the fact that Luke and Lorelai had a kiss was perfect. It wasn't overly sentimental (thank goodness - no tears here) it was sweet, charming, funny and the show wrapped up well.

Not that I care to hear the four words, but I always thought they'd be Lorelai telling Rory something like "you'll be an aunt". Kinda completing the journey with Rory as she goes off into the world and Lorelai starts the circle all over again.

Although, I tend to like Lorelai saying "Rory, I killed Taylor!!" :D :D

Do you think if we all moved into a town, say we created a town, we could be like Stars Hollow? That would be the coolest place to live ever. Not any small town, but specifically Stars Hollow.

Face it. Amy Sherman-Palladino is a lying whore. You may want to take a look at this quote:

Are you ever going to tell us the ending you'd planned for Gilmore?
Not at the moment, but eventually. I'll be on top of a building, ready to jump, and I'll yell it to the world, and I'll plummet to my death.

Oh, angel, we just finished this one! The plan on this one is the same as Gilmore — to write, produce, do everything. It's love. I don't believe that bull----, ''If you love it, let it go.'' If you love it, stay there and make sure no one else f---s it up.

She said she never watched this last season of GG in an interview recently which now you can tell she has been watching it and thinks Rosenthal screwed it up even though he was hand picked by them and had to write him self out of a horrible corner that ASP put him in.

From today's Ask Ausiello:

OK, here's the deal: Yes, I tracked her down, but, no, she did not cough up those elusive four words. But wait — there's more. And it's good. No, amazing. No, un-frakkin'-believable. Amazing, even. Wait, did I say that already? Well, it's true. Because just as I was about to brand her a big ol' promise-breaker right there in front of all those industry types, Amy explained why she couldn't divulge her long-ago-planned Gilmore ending. (Gilmore fanatics: This is the time in Sprockets when you either lean on a heavy object or just sit down.) In the next year or two, she hopes to make — wait for it — a two-hour Gilmore Girls TV-movie that ties up all those loose threads! I nearly fell over when she said it — especially given what she told me back in December. (BTW, lest you think Amy was pulling my leg, her partner in life and in showbiz, Dan Palladino, confirmed that a GG reunion pic is something they're interested in pursuing.) And I wasn't the only one floored by this development. "She said what?" gasped Scott Patterson after I relayed the information to him over the phone. "I didn't think she would be interested in doing something like that. But if she says she is, I would seriously consider it." Alexis Bledel was equally stunned. "A Gilmore Girls reunion?" she said with a laugh. "That's certainly not something I had thought of doing. That's really funny, I have no idea how I would feel in a few years. I don't know, I'm sure the script Amy would write would be great, but I guess I'd have to read it and see how I felt at the time." Last but not least, Lauren Graham e-mailed me late last night to say, "Could be a fun idea if everyone wanted to do it. I would do it just to get the four final words out of Amy. They torture me." Stand by for a comment from Warner Bros. big cheese Peter Roth. In the meantime, head over to the Ask Ausiello Discussion Thread and start brainstorming campaign slogans!

From today's Ask Ausiello:

Please happen, please happen...
Eh. I'd love to see a reunion movie, but I'm not thrilled about the Palladinos writing it. Despite the vote of confidence from Lauren Graham, I don't trust them with this series anymore. As I've mentioned previously, the petulant attempt to destroy their own show when they couldn't get exactly what they wanted from the network is unforgiveable. One of the reasons that the series ended when it did was that the show couldn't dig itself back out of the ratings grave that Amy Palladino dug for it when she twisted the storyline so badly that she alienated existing fans and failed to bring in new ones.

Please happen, please happen...
They're going to need to explain exactly what open storylines need to be resolved. Luke & Lorelai...pretty much case closed. Rory's got a job for at least two years. Sunday dinners will continue. What else is there?

If you're asking for a lying whore to essentially close a show her way after she destroyed it and abandoned it over a matter of money, just so you can get these four words out of her, you're obsessing way too much over these four words. Besides, considering the source, I bet I can figure out the four words:

"It's about the money."
