Just recently when I change channel with Tivo remote, it goes to another channel. In addition after recording a program, I find that it recorded a different channel, even though it says it recorded the correct program, ie: the title and info is for the program I recorded however the program is entirely different including the channel. Does anyone know of this problem or how to fix it????

Changing channels via IR is fallible.
You can redo the setup portion regarding changing channels but as long as you are using the IR blaster you will have occasional failures. If you play with it long enough you will see that it misses with the remote occasionally as well.

Redo the Guided setup to make sure that the TiVo is using the BEST IR frequency for your cable box.

I'm assuming that you have a cable box and that the TIVO controls the cable box. If you don't have a cable box, then most of what follows doesn't apply.

But first, a couple questions ...

1) when you say wrong channel, is the desired channel a random channel, or always the same? For example: case a) today your TIVO won't tune to channel 26, yesterday it wouldn't tune channel 50 (but 26 was OK), and the day before that, it wouldn't tune channel 123 (but 26 and 50 worked) vs case b) 2 days ago, TIVO stopped tuning in channel 26 and now, everytime I try channel 26, I can't get it. All other channels seem to work fine though.

2) what channel does TIVO end up on? is it a random new channel, or +/- 1 channel away? If you can't tune channel 26, do you end up on 25 or 27, or do you end up on 52?

here's why I ask ... several months ago, I started 'losing' channels. First it was 50, then 26, then 49, etc. When I tuned to channel 50, I ended up on 49 or 51. When I then lost 49, I ended up on 51 or 48. Same thing with 26 (ended up on 25 or 27). It turned out, I was getting a crappy signal from the cable for these channels. When I tried to change to channel 50, the TIVO would tell the cable box to change to channel 50, but the cable box couldn't find channel 50 due to the crappy signal. Because it couldn't find a signal, the cable box started looking for a good channel in +/- 1 increments. When it found a good channel, it stopped. That's why, TIVO thought I was on channel 50, but the cable box tuned to channel 49.

the solution:

I had the cable company come out and check the line. In my case, the signal was strong enough getting to my house, but I had a splitter outside the house that split the signal 50:50. One side went upstairs to the cable ready TV while the other side went downstairs to the TIVO/modem/network combination. The solution was to install an unbalanced splitter (90:10) outside so that more signal strength got to the cable box. I think the tech also put another unbalanced splitter in front of my cable modem. He did all this without charge and in about 30 minutes.

hope this helps/works
